ART&SCIENCE WORKSHOP 1
Our first Art & Science Workshop culminated in the opening of the Art for Corals exhibition at the Moorea Ecomuseum – TE FARE NATURA - L'ECOMUSEE, on Saturday, September 13, 2025. 🐠🎨
This exhibition showcases the creative outcomes of the two-week residency where artists and scientists explored coral reef ecosystems through interdisciplinary collaboration.
Featured Works:
- Coral Bleaching Fresco: A participatory installation made from coral-colored pieces soaked in the lagoon water (in front of our station), symbolizing coral bleaching processes. Each participant also contributed an individual A6-format interpretation.
- Reef Interactions Series, by Estelle CRUZ, PhD: Inspired by presentations on ecological interactions in Polynesian lagoons by CRIOBE researchers.
- Coral Diseases (Mixed Media Collaboration): A visual and photographic interpretation of coral pathologies by researchers Mathilde Godefroid, Laetitia Hédouin, Laurie Raymundo and artists Clémentine Brochet, Alé’a Duenas, Laure PEZZATINI and Jessica KEMPF.
- Aerial Installation & Press Cartoons: driftwood and coral compositions suspended in space, alongside original press cartoons by Munoz Danilo in collaboration with multiple artists, such as Laure PEZZATINI, Eric Descourvières and others.
- Play4Reef boardgame, a collaborative creation by Kristel Chaton and Munoz Danilo, with the support of Jean Huukena. Made from recycled wood, this board game invites children and adults to discover, while having fun about the issues that threaten coral reefs. Each square on the board illustrates an ecological reality: bleaching, pollution, friendly or harmful species... The goal is to educate about the fragility of coral while offering a fun and participatory experience, where the joy of the game meets environmental awareness.
🎨 In addition to these, the exhibition includes a wide array of individual and collective graphic works, all exploring the links between art, science, and reef conservation.
🌊 A big thank you to all our partners, Fondation CNRS, Scintilla Foundation and participants, especially the artists and scientists who made this collaborative adventure possible.
📅 You can find the exhibition at the TE FARE NATURA - L'ECOMUSEE Nature from September 25, 2025 onwards. Come explore art and science, learn and have fun playing our board game!
Saty tuned for more creations and workshops to come!
